GJONI dhe ROMAKĖT
The gospel of John and the
epistle to Romans
(to be distributed in Kosovo)

During the Kosovo crisis, I went to various refugee camps and talked with Kosovars. I read parts from the book of John and Romans published in standard Albanian language and I found out that most of the Kosovars, especially those 50 years and above, had a hard time understanding what I was reading to them. So we decided to produce an audio version of the book of John and the epistle to the Romans in Kosovo dialect, so that we could be able to distribute cassettes among the Kosovars in refugee camps. After this project was finished, we decided to print the manuscript which served as the text for the readers who recorded the Kosovo version of John and Romans. Of course we couldn't print it in Kosovo dialect, because the only official language of all the Albanians wherever they are in the world in standard Albanian. So the manuscript of John and Romans was printed in standard Albanian language, and at the same time we could preserve the dialectial differences which have life within the framework of standard Albanian.
The printing of John and Romans to be distributed among the Kosovars was sponsored by The First Baptist Church in Los Gatos. We are trying to contact missionaries, pastors or Christian workers who go to Kosovo and let them know that this book is now available to be distributed in that area. This book is a very effective tool in introducing the Kosovars with the Word of God. The language is simple and includes the most common words and expressions used by the Kosovars living in Kosovo and elsewhere.
